It started in Hong Kong in 2012. Steve and Sarah Bennett spotted a billboard claiming that a pair of socks could prevent athlete's foot. They laughed. Who would fall for that?
A few days later they came across the very same socks in a department store, with a detailed information sheet explaining exactly how the bamboo yarn worked. Steve, who had suffered from athlete's foot for years, thought the explanation sounded plausible enough. He bought a few pairs.
Several months on, his feet had genuinely improved. That was all the convincing they needed.
Steve and Sarah tracked down a yarn supplier, built a relationship with an award-winning clothing factory, and by 2013 the first YouBamboo socks were available. From there the range grew naturally, first into underwear, then into bedding. Today those three ranges form the heart of the collection, with small activewear pieces added from time to time.
